The East London Wound Healing Centre incorporates the wound healing service and lymphoedema service.

About us

Wound healing and prevention, and lymphoedema management is our focus and we believe that the key to success is a treatment plan that is made in partnership with you. Our aim is to provide specialist care that is focussed on your needs and lifestyle, thereby contributing to a much improved quality of life and better outcomes.

We are a multidisciplinary team made up of nurse specialists, podiatry, consultant dermatologist and a research nurse.

Our services

We see patients with their nurse (ward or district or practice nurse) but we also have some specialist clinics. We see Tower Hamlets residents in a variety of settings: home or clinic, ward or nursing home.

We work closely with services at Barts and The London NHS Trust to ensure that specialist advice and care continues once you are home. We also work closely with a variety of practitioners within the PCT: older people's services, occupational therapists, wheelchair services, physiotherapy and foot health. On Jubilee Ward in older people's services at Mile End Hospital, we have four beds for people of all ages who have complex wounds or lymphoedema.

We have a complex wound out-patient clinic for people who do not live in Tower Hamlets. This is a weekly assessment clinic and referrals for this specialist clinic can be made by your GP (see below).

While we will review your care and progress, on-going management is carried out by your local nursing team. We do not have a dressing’s clinic for patients who do not live in Tower Hamlets.

We do not currently provide a service for people with lymphoedema or chronic swelling who do not live in Tower Hamlets.

The wound care team will see anyone in Tower Hamlets with a slow healing wound and ensure they have excellent evidence based care in order to improve your life.
