Infection control

The community infection control service is a nurse-led specialist advisory service. We provide a service to the three primary care trust areas of City and Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets.

We cover two inpatient areas:

• East Ham Care Centre, 
• the Bancroft Unit at Mile End Hospital.

We do not provide a service to other nursing homes, schools, nurseries or residential homes.

We are committed to improving health care services by excellence in the practice of infection control.

The key components of the service are:

• specialist advisory service,

• strategic management,

• policy development,

• audit,

• surveillance,

• education,

• outbreak prevention and management.
