Community equipment

If you have a disability, are elderly, or have a long-term illness which causes you to have difficulties coping with daily living tasks - such as dressing, washing, bathing, preparing and cooking a meal, and so on - we may be able to help you.

We provide equipment and mobility products to help older and disabled people lead more independent lives.

Equipment is prescribed by a health and social care professional such as a therapist or a nurse or social worker.

Free service

Equipment is provided on a loan basis, free of charge. We also collect equipment no longer needed, and clean and repair it for re-use.

Contact us to discuss your needs

If you would like to discuss your needs with us, please contact the occupational therapy service, on 020 7364 5948 / 5945 (Monday to Friday 9am-5pm) or email: occupationaltherapy@towerhamlets.gov.uk.

Everyone's needs are different, so the services offered to each individual will be different. Together, we will try to agree on the best way to provide the help that you need.

Self assessment for community equipment

The Disabled Living Foundation provides a self assessment tool which you can use and email the results to the occupational therapy service who will then discuss your needs with you . For more information, see side box.
