Smoke free homes and cars

Making the pledge to keep your home and car smoke free is a way to protect your family, friends, visitors and pets from the harmful effects of smoking. Currently over 2 million children in the UK are exposed to secondhand smoke.

Babies and children are at a much greater risk from the dangers of secondhand smoke and can result in:

  • pneumonia and bronchitis,
  • asthma,
  • meningitis,
  • middle ear disease,
  • reduced lung function,
  • sudden infant death syndrome and
  • behavioural and learning difficulties.

Once you make the pledge, you’ll be sent a free pack of window stickers, advice and tips on ways to keep your environment smoke free. Those looking to stop smoking can access the  network of NHS stop smoking services and free home fire safety checks are available through the Tower Hamlets division of the London Fire Brigade.
