Staying healthy this winter

Keep warm, keep well , materials available from the Department of Health 2010
Keep warm, keep well materials are available from the Department of Health website.
The Department of Health is urging people to take steps to ensure they stay healthy this winter, as the first cold weather of the season is forecast for the UK.

As the weather gets colder, people are being urged to remember the needs of friends, elderly relatives and neighbours who could be at risk.

Keep warm, keep well

The Department of Health 'Keep Warm, keep well' campaign offers the following tips to help people stay healthy this winter:

  • heat your home to the right temperature (18–21°C or 64–70°F),
  • get financial support including grants to make your home more energy efficient,
  • eat well. Food is a vital source of energy, which helps to keep the body warm,
  • get a flu jab, and
  • look after yourselves and others during winter to make sure that they are safe and well.
