Children and parents can sign up
to innovative health schemes in Tower Hamlets in a bid to lose weight and lead
active lifestyles.
The London Borough of Tower Hamlets, which has the third
highest level of childhood obesity in the country, is running the BEST
(Better Eating, Self-esteem
and Total health) and MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do-it) programmes.
The free courses hosted by the
Sport and Physical Activity Team run for ten weeks and aim to help children
to adopt healthy eating and
daily physical activity into their daily life.
More than 200 children have
completed the BEST scheme since it began in 2004.
From 1 September 2010, children aged
7-16 and their parents can sign up to any of the following
programmes:
-
