On Tuesday 6 September, NHS East London and the City launched a consultation on improving in-patient services for people with dementia in east London and the City, called “Older People Modern Services: a consultation on improving in-patient assessment services for people with dementia in east London and the City”.
The consultation closed on 30 November 2011.
In the past few years your local NHS has invested resources to support people with dementia to live in their own homes. In order to continue this support the NHS propose to change the way in-patient services for people with dementia are provided across east London and the City so more resources can be put into treating people in their own homes.
To achieve this the NHS propose to improve services by closing underused in-patient wards which are based in Newham, Hackney and Tower Hamlets and providing, high-quality services from a single base in the centre of east London and the City, releasing money to be invested in services in the community.
During the consultation a number of question and answer sessions were held across east London and the City as well as commissioners and providers talking to local groups and individuals. Local people and stakeholders were asked to give their views either at these meetings in writing or through this website.
Local people and stakeholders views on the consultation will be complied in a report that will go to the NHS East London and the City Board in 2012.
The consultation document contains information about the current services, outlines what the local NHS believes needs to change and asked for local people and stakeholder’s views.
