Health commissioning organisations are required to publish information about what their local providers plan to do to resolve the issue of mixed sex wards. Eliminating mixed sex wards is one of the priorities – or vital signs – of the NHS operational plan.

As a commissioner of services, NHS Tower Hamlets monitors this standard carefully and regularly reviews and challenges our providers both to ensure compliance and that progress is being made to eliminate mixed sex accommodation.
